Syracuse University Libraries and ACM announce open access agreement -

Syracuse University Libraries has taken a significant step towards advancing open access to scholarly research by entering into a new publishing agreement with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), effective August 2023. This transformative agreement enables all authors affiliated with Syracuse University to publish open access with ACM at no cost to the author.

Under this arrangement, Syracuse University authors will have the opportunity to publish open access with ACM once they complete the ACM assignment of rights and permissions during the conference or journal submission process. Similar to other open access publishing agreements, this initiative expands the global accessibility of scholarly contributions by making them available to all users without charge and with minimal copyright and licensing restrictions.

Syracuse University Libraries forged this collaboration with ACM through its consortia membership in LYRASIS, emphasizing the library's commitment to addressing scholarly communications challenges and aligning with its strategic objectives.

In addition to this newly established agreement, Syracuse University Libraries remains committed to providing open access journal publishing opportunities with various other publishers. Additional information can be found on the Libraries' Research Guide on Transformative Agreements and APC Coverage.

This forward-thinking agreement exemplifies Syracuse University Libraries' dedication to facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and fostering collaboration in the academic and research communities.
