Taylor & Francis appoints Stacy Scott as the organization’s first Accessibility Officer -

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis Group has announced the appointment of Stacy Scott as the organization’s first Accessibility Officer. Stacy Scott has been professionally involved in the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) education sector for almost fifteen years. She began her career in this space as a University advisor and followed with a position as Project Consultant at the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI/DAISY). In this role she played a key advisory role in the development of a transformative initiative in Africa, facilitating access to the written word. For four years Scott was Programme Development Officer at Sightsavers, an international organization that works with partners to protect sight and fight for disability rights.

In Scott’s most recent role she spent seven years at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) as Bookshare and Publisher Relationship Manager. Scott’s extensive experience also includes being Chair at The Publishers Association Accessibility Working Group.

At Taylor & Francis, Stacy Scott will perform the critical role of providing central oversight, leadership, guidance, coordination, and support to the organization’s Accessibility Working Group and its initiatives. The Accessibility Working Group is comprised of colleagues from across the organization who share a goal to make accessible content available, with a firm focus on customer experience, understanding customers’ needs, and driving changes to provide the best quality content in the most accessible way for everyone. Scott will help Taylor & Francis to build a clearer, more cohesive strategy on accessibility across the company, acting as the point of call, to ensure that all accessibility challenges can be addressed quickly and collaboratively. Additionally, she will share her knowledge, so colleagues grow in confidence and awareness, and accessibility comes built into everything the organization does.
