Taylor & Francis has announced a partnership with OA Switchboard, a collaborative initiative designed to simplify the exchange of scholarly communications metadata and improve the visibility of published research.
As part of the integration, Taylor & Francis will provide standardized metadata for all new journal articles, regardless of open access status. This metadata includes details such as article titles, publication dates, author names and affiliations, funding information, and journal titles.
Through this collaboration, participating institutions and funding organizations will receive automated notifications when their researchers publish in Taylor & Francis, Routledge, or Dove Medical Press journals. These alerts are intended to support research offices, libraries, and funders by offering a comprehensive overview of publishing activity, streamlining administrative processes, and assisting with open access funding and compliance.
Yvonne Campfens, Executive Director of OA Switchboard, noted that Taylor & Francis’s participation strengthens efforts to build a more connected and transparent scholarly communications ecosystem. She emphasized that sharing standardized metadata benefits publishers, institutions, and funders alike.
Ashok Subramanian, Chief Technology Officer at Taylor & Francis, explained that the partnership demonstrates the value of collaboration across the scholarly communications community. He highlighted that metadata sharing plays a key role in supporting the growth of open access, enabling institutions, funders, and researchers to maximize the reach and impact of their work. He added that Taylor & Francis is already exploring opportunities to expand its collaboration with OA Switchboard.
