T&F launches STAR initiative to offer online access to emerging regions -

Publisher Taylor & Francis (T&F), UK, has announced a new initiative called Special Terms for Authors and Researchers (STAR). The new initiative, undertaken in collaboration with T&F's learned society, professional association and co-publishing partners, is a pioneering online access scheme for individual academic and scientific authors from emerging regions of the world.

STAR provides one month's access to over 1,000 leading international and regional journals. Coverage spans arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and biological and physical sciences.

STAR's objective is to make top scholarly content - from anthropology to zoology, from economics to environmental studies - more accessible during the authoring process to economically constrained parts of the world and to support regional contributions to the global knowledge economy. Specifically, STAR aims to enable researchers to enrich findings and update references; hopefully contribute towards higher levels of article acceptance; encourage informed debate in the worldwide academic community; and foster strong research activity and application.

The initiative provides access to the full range of Taylor and Francis titles and imprints, complementing existing philanthropic initiatives such as Research4Life which targets specific subject areas. STAR is currently available to researchers in Africa, South Asia and many parts of South East Asia.
