The American College of Cardiology has announced the appointment of Dr. Candice Silversides as the inaugural editor-in-chief of the American College of Cardiology’s latest journal, JACC: Advances. The journal will publish original research and review articles with a particular focus on new and emerging sub-specialities in the cardiology field including congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiology, critical care cardiology, geriatric cardiology, cardio-obstetrics, and cerebrovascular disease, among others. JACC: Advances adds to the growing Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) family of journals, which now includes 10 premier, peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Silversides is a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and chair in Pregnancy and Heart Disease at the Miles Nadal Heart Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she leads the Obstetric Medicine program and is director of the Cardio-Obstetric clinic. She also works at the Peter Munk Cardiac Center, specializing in adult congenital heart disease and echocardiography and is vice president of the Canadian Adult Congenital Heart Network. Silversides’ research interests include pregnancy and heart disease and adult congenital heart disease. She has contributed to many international practice guidelines and consensus statements, including serving as chair of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society’s guidelines on the management of adults with congenital heart disease.
JACC: Advances, an online Open Access journal, will aspire to be the leading publication for new and emerging areas in the cardiovascular field. The journal is currently finalizing its editorial board that will include representatives specializing in various areas of cardiovascular medicine.
