The Company of Biologists renews Read & Publish Open Access agreement with CAUL -

The Company of Biologists has announced the renewal of its Read & Publish Open Access agreement with the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL), ensuring continued support for Open Access publishing and research dissemination across Australia and New Zealand.

Key Highlights of the Agreement

• Extended Open Access Publishing: Corresponding authors from participating institutions can publish an unlimited number of research articles immediately Open Access in the company’s hybrid journals (Development, Journal of Cell Science, and Journal of Experimental Biology) and fully Open Access journals (Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open), without incurring article processing charges (APCs).

• Unrestricted Journal Access: Researchers gain unlimited access to the hybrid journals, including archives that date back to 1853, offering a wealth of historical and contemporary scientific knowledge.

• Support for Global Research Impact: The agreement ensures that research from participating institutions remains accessible and impactful, contributing to the global scientific community.

Running throughout 2025, the renewed agreement underscores The Company of Biologists’ dedication to advancing Open Access publishing. By eliminating APCs for participating authors and providing extensive journal access, the initiative aligns with CAUL’s mission to support transparency, equity, and access in scholarly publishing.
