The National Library of Medicine accepts Ophthalmology® Retina for inclusion in Medline/PubMed -

The National Library of Medicine has accepted Ophthalmology® Retina for inclusion in Medline/PubMed, the first time it has accepted a printed, monthly U.S. ophthalmology journal in 12 years. Launched two years ago, the American Academy of Ophthalmology created Ophthalmology Retina in response to the growing volume of high-quality research within the retina subspecialty of ophthalmology. It has provided a much-needed new channel through which these studies can be published sooner.

Ophthalmology Retina is the first new Academy journal since the Transactions of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology was initially published in 1903. Transactions is the precursor to the Academy’s flagship journal, Ophthalmology. The Academy followed up the launch of Ophthalmology Retina with Ophthalmology Glaucoma in August 2018, offering researchers an expanded opportunity to publish top-tier, original research of interest to glaucoma specialists around the world. The Academy publishes Ophthalmology Glaucoma in partnership with the American Glaucoma Society.

The journal publisher, Elsevier, is working with Medline/PubMed to have Ophthalmology Retina articles appear in Medline in about four to six weeks. Indexing will begin with the current year/volume and once active, Elsevier will request Medline to index older content with the goal of indexing back to Volume 1, Issue 1.
