The OCLC Global Council member delegates elect Loretta Parham and Jennifer Younger to serve on the OCLC Board of Trustees -

The OCLC Global Council member delegates have elected two librarians to serve on the OCLC Board of Trustees. The two librarians are: Loretta Parham, CEO and Director of the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, and Jennifer Younger, Executive Director, Catholic Research Resources Alliance. Each will serve a four-year term beginning with the next OCLC Board meeting in November.

The two new Board members were elected by Global Council April 18 and will replace Maggie Farrell, Dean of Libraries, University of Wyoming, and Bruce Newell, Director (Retired), Montana Library Network, whose terms on the Board end in November.

Loretta Parham is CEO and Director of the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, an independent academic library for the shared benefit of four HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities)—Morehouse College, Spelman College, the Interdenominational Theological Center and Clark Atlanta University. Prior positions include University Library Director at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and Deputy Director of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was Vice President/President of OCLC Members Council from 2007–2009.

Parham currently holds a variety of leadership positions in professional organisations, including Director-At-Large on the Board of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and Vice Chair of the Board of Georgia Humanities Council. She is co-founder and past Chair of the HBCU Library Alliance.

Jennifer Younger is Executive Director, Catholic Research Resources Alliance, and was the Edward H. Arnold Director of Hesburgh Libraries, University of Notre Dame, from 1997–2010. Prior to that, she was Assistant Director for Technical Services and Liaison for the Regional Campus Libraries, University Libraries, The Ohio State University, in Columbus. Dr. Younger’s distinguished record of service includes serving as Vice President, President and Past President for the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS); President and Board member, Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI); Secretary and Board member, Center for Research Libraries; and Board member, Association for Research Libraries.

The OCLC Board of Trustees is currently made up of 16 members. According to the Board’s bylaws, the number of trustees may range from 13 to 17. Six are elected by Global Council, one is the President and CEO, and the rest are elected by the Board itself. Ten of the 16 trustees currently serving on the OCLC Board of Trustees are librarians.
