The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) appoints Dr. Lauren Haldeman as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior -

The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) has announced that Dr. Lauren Haldeman will assume the duties of editor-in-chief of the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB), published by Elsevier, effective January 2023. Dr. Haldeman takes over from Dr. Karen Chapman-Novakofski, who has expertly served the Journal as editor-in-chief since 2008. JNEB is a global resource to advance nutrition education and behavior-related research, practice, and policy.

Dr. Haldeman is a Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She received her Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut in 2001. Concerned about increasing rates of diet-related chronic diseases and poor nutrition-related outcomes among groups facing health disparities, Dr. Haldeman's research focuses primarily on the dietary behaviors of caretakers of young children representing diverse communities in North Carolina. Her work has resulted in the development of theory-based nutrition education interventions and materials with these groups. With the goal of advancing nutrition practice and policy, Dr. Haldeman also works through community and academic partnerships to address multilevel promoters and barriers to healthy eating and physical activity.

Dr. Haldeman’s appointment came as Karen Chapman-Novakofski announced her retirement from leading JNEB and teaching at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
