Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris® Group has announced that the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has decided to adopt the Ex Libris Alma® library management service, Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution. The university libraries will be migrating from various systems, including the SirsiDynix Symphony® integrated library system (ILS) and the Ex Libris Voyager® ILS.
UAB sought systems that would enable it to integrate the operations and processes of two independent libraries under a single technology platform. The unified Alma workflows will provide a firm foundation for this merger, and the easy-to-use Primo interface will support users who seek items from both libraries. Rosetta’s end-to-end digital asset infrastructure will preserve digital resources at both libraries and keep such resources accessible for future generations.
According to Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, the ability to combine the resources of disparate libraries into a single, cloud-based system is one of Alma's strengths. Coupled with the user-friendly Primo interface and Rosetta's powerful digital asset management, the Alma solution will help UAB libraries provide valuable support for the academic goals of the university.
