Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and Primo® discovery and delivery solution. UNC Charlotte's J. Murrey Atkins Library selected the Ex Libris solutions as an integrated, best-in-class implementation to meet patron expectations and take the library into the future. Alma and Primo will replace Atkins' existing OCLC WorldShare Management Services platform.
During the evaluation process, UNC Charlotte's J. Murrey Atkins Library defined a number of goals for the new system, including an increase in efficiency, the streamlining of management workflows, and a powerful, modern search service. The Ex Libris solutions were selected to fulfil all of these goals. With the cloud-based, multitenant Alma architecture, software updates are automatic and require no effort on the part of library staff. Alma workflows streamline e-resource management while the Primo discovery experience offers library patrons a customisable interface, comprehensive search technology, and personalised result lists that support the needs of researchers and students.
