Thieme Publishers, part of STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, has announced that a free sampling of anatomy illustrations and clinical content from the Atlas of Anatomy is now available for use on iPad, via the newly released modalityBODY App. This sampler highlights the exquisite illustrations and unique features of the Atlas, including schematics, multiple image views, muscle facts, and radiographs. More of Thieme's anatomy content will be available for In-App purchase within modalityBODY in the coming weeks.
The free modalityBODY App, created by Modality, Inc., offers an anatomy and medical image reference and training solution for health sciences professionals. Users of the modalityBODY App for iPad will be able to create their own medical image reference library from Thieme’s atlas and flash card products, as well as clinical case images and notes created by users themselves or drawn from publicly available open source databases. Images may be annotated with custom labels to identify anatomical structures and mark important features. As images are added to modalityBODY, they are simultaneously added to the app’s local database, which can be searched to locate specific anatomical landmarks and data points anywhere within the user’s entire modalityBODY library. Fast access to Google, PubMed, and other web sources for additional information on specific structures is available with a network connection. In addition to interacting with images individually, users have the option to view Thieme content in modalityBODY’s Page Mode, which displays content as it appears on the printed page.
Atlas of Anatomy is based on the work of Michael Schuenke, Erik Schulte, and Udo Schumacher and is edited by Anne M. Gilroy, Brian R. MacPherson, and Lawrence M. Ross. Illustrations are by Markus Voll and Karl Wesker. Anatomy Flash Cards feature illustrations from Atlas of Anatomy and are edited by Anne Gilroy.
The modalityBODY App for iPad is available for free from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
