Thieme, part of STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, has announced the publication of the second edition of Multimodality Breast Imaging: A Correlative Atlas. Published by Thieme, the latest edition teaches the reader how to integrate mammography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to provide patients with optimal care.
The publication is authored by Dr. Beverly Hashimoto, Section Head of Ultrasound, Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. After grounding the reader in the pattern approach for reading mammography, ultrasound and MRI, Dr. Hashimoto walks the reader through over 225 cases where she demonstrates the multimodality approach to common clinical problems. The book concludes with chapters on using PET to stage breast cancer, monitor response to therapy, identify recurrent disease, and find additional malignancies, including unknown primaries.
'Multimodality Breast Imaging: A Correlative Atlas' contains over 800 high quality digital mammograms, ultrasound, MRI and PET/CT images. Each image was carefully selected because it demonstrates normal or unusual appearances of common breast pathologies or is an example of rare breast abnormalities.
