Thieme appoints Dr. John A. Elefteriades as Co-Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Angiology -

Scientific and medical publisher Thieme Publishing Group has announced the appointment of Dr. John A. Elefteriades as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Angiology. Dr. Elefteriades is the William W.L. Glenn Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University and Yale New-Haven Hospital and Director of the Center of Thoracic Aortic Disease at Yale.

Among the most clinically active academic surgeons in the US, Dr. Elefteriades is a recognised authority in interventions for the failing left ventricle, including coronary artery bypass grafting, left ventricular aneurysmectomy, and artificial heart implantation. His specific research activity involves the development of new techniques of heart transplantation and the identification of genetic variation responsible for thoracic aortic aneurysms.

Dr. Elefteriades serves on multiple scientific advisory and editorial boards and is a frequently requested international lecturer, visiting professor and guest surgeon. The author of over 200 scientific publications on a wide range of cardiac and thoracic topics, Dr. Elefteriades was selected as one of the ten best doctors in America by Men’s Health magazine. As Co-Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Elefteriades brings a wealth of experience to the editorial structure of International Journal of Angiology.

Additional changes to the editorial organisation include the appointment of Professor Kailash Prasad, Department of Physiology, University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine as Consulting Editor and Professor Otmar M. Pachinger, Professor of Medicine, Department of Cardiology, Medical University of Innsbruck as Senior Editor. The recruitment of several active young members on the editorial board complements the new changes undergone by the International Journal of Angiology.

International Journal of Angiology is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of vascular and cardiovascular disease. Available in print and online, the journal publishes original research, reviews, case reports, and rapid communications on all aspects of angiology. Articles published cover experimental, clinical, and basic science; as well as the outcomes of medical research and clinical trials.
