Thieme appoints Tehshik Yoon and David Sarlah to Science of Synthesis Editorial Board -

Thieme has announced the appointment of Professors Tehshik P. Yoon and David Sarlah as new members of the Science of Synthesis Editorial Board, effective October 1, 2025. Both chemists bring extensive expertise in organic synthesis and catalysis to the international reference work.

Professor Yoon, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, holds degrees from Harvard University and Caltech and completed postdoctoral research at Harvard with Eric Jacobsen.

His academic career, launched at Wisconsin in 2005, focuses on photochemical synthesis, enantioselective catalysis, and mechanistic studies in photochemistry. He has authored contributions to Science of Synthesis Reference Library volumes on photocatalysis and free-radical chemistry and has been recognized with awards including the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award (2010) and the 2026 ACS David A. Evans Award for the Advancement and Education of Organic Synthesis.

Professor Sarlah, who recently joined Rice University, earned his chemistry degree at the University of Ljubljana and completed his PhD with K. C. Nicolaou at Scripps. After postdoctoral research with Erick Carreira at ETH Zurich, he began his independent career at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign in 2014 before moving to Rice in 2024. His research spans the synthesis of complex natural products, methodology development, and chemical biology. He currently serves as responsible editor for the forthcoming Science of Synthesis Reference Library volume on dearomatization, scheduled for publication in late 2025.

With these appointments, Thieme strengthens the Science of Synthesis Editorial Board’s global representation and continues its commitment to advancing comprehensive reference content for the organic synthesis community.
