Thieme launches new open access journal on sustainability and circularity -

Scientific publisher Thieme has announced the launch of a ground-breaking open access journal called Sustainability & Circularity NOW. This journal aims to publish the latest research on benign molecules and materials, closed-loop systems, waste-free processes, and other actionable solutions to address global environmental crises. It is the first open access publication with a multidisciplinary focus on sustainability and circularity, encompassing not only chemistry but also other relevant fields.

The primary objective of Sustainability & Circularity NOW is to empower researchers, engineers, and sustainability advocates in academia, industry, and government by providing them a platform to publish their research and discuss actionable solutions. The thematic concept of the journal is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting its commitment to driving positive change.

Dr. J.C. Slootweg, Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Starting from fall 2023, authors will have the opportunity to submit their papers in various research areas, including Circular Design and Economy, Green Manufacturing and Engineering, Biobased and Circular Plastics, Sustainable Industrial Processes, and many more. Additionally, the journal will feature life cycle assessment studies and case studies aimed at fostering public and policy debate on sustainability and circularity.

To facilitate a fast and effective review process, Sustainability & Circularity NOW will employ the Select Crowd Review system. This innovative approach ensures a quick first decision within a week of submission. Feedback from experts representing diverse research areas guarantees high-quality reviews and increased visibility within the academic community.

Authors interested in submitting their articles to Sustainability & Circularity NOW can find detailed information on the journal's dedicated website provided by Thieme Group. By encouraging collaboration and disseminating cutting-edge research, this new open access journal aims to catalyze progress towards a sustainable and circular future.
