Thieme launches WinkingSkull.com, a free interactive anatomy website -

Thieme Publishers, part of STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, has announced the launch of WinkingSkull.com (www.winkingskull.com), a free, interactive resource for medical students and people interested in science.

WinkingSkull.com features highly detailed images, derived from the 'THIEME Atlas of Anatomy' series. For eight years, medical illustrators Karl Wesker and Markus Voll have worked together on the atlas series using a digital drawing board. Thousands of extraordinary anatomy illustrations emerged from that process and 200 of them are now available for all to see on this new website. An intuitive website design allows quick access to the region of interest. Users can turn labels on or off while studying. A testing feature allows users to drag and drop labels onto the anatomical illustrations while being timed. Also, they may view test results instantly to measure their proficiency of the material and compare scores with other users.

Internationally recognised, the atlas series is known for its stunning illustrations and exceptional production quality as well as its effectiveness in assisting healthcare professionals. The ever-expanding series consists of 'General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System,' 'Neck and Internal Organs,' and 'Head and Neuroanatomy.' DVDs, with the corresponding set of illustrations, are also available for each book.
