Thieme publishes fourth edition of 'Teaching Atlas of Mammography' -

STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, recently published the new fourth edition of Teaching Atlas of Mammography. The publication is authored by Dr. Laszlo Tabar, Professor of Radiology, University of Uppsala School of Medicine, and Dr. Peter B. Dean, Professor, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, University of Turku, Finland.

In the latest edition, readers are again invited to share in the authors’ experience of analyzing and evaluating mammograms. According to the publisher, their systematic approach not only instils a full understanding of the principles of mammography but also provides the requisite knowledge and tools to arrive at a highly accurate differential diagnosis.

The purpose of this Atlas is to teach radiologists how to analyse mammograms and arrive at the correct diagnosis through proper evaluation of the findings. The illustrated cases are seen to cover practically the entire spectrum of breast abnormalities. They are based upon referred patient material as well as upon a large number of mammographic screening examinations. This edition includes the outcome of screen-detected cases followed for up to 25 years.

Teaching Atlas of Mammography and the Breast Cancer book series are projected to be essential for residents in radiology and practicing radiologists. Such professional are said to need the highest level of training in the radiologic anatomy of the normal breast and the changes associated with benign and malignant lesions.
