Thomson CompuMark adds company names to online trademark screening solution -

Thomson CompuMark, a Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property & Science business, has announced the launch of Company Names on SAEGIS, for its SAEGIS on SERION online trademark screening solution. SAEGIS seeks to enable trademark professionals to access the broadest trademark content available through a single source, minimising administrative resources, time and costs associated with trademark screening projects. Thomson CompuMark is a global player in trademark searching and brand protection solutions.

Company Names on SAEGIS can be used as part of the trademark research process to determine if a target trademark has already been registered as an identical or similar trademark or name. It is said to provide a holistic approach to trademark screening by expanding the process beyond trademarks and focusing on adjacent rights. Company names are relevant in common law countries, including the US (which do not require formal registration to enforce trademark rights), as well as in first-to-file countries (in which registered company owners can prohibit a trademark registration based on a registered company name). The company name database on SAEGIS includes 115 million names in 212 countries across North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

SAEGIS is stated to provide clients with the flexibility to create customised search algorithms and receive targeted information to make informed trademark decisions.

Information about Thomson CompuMark's trademark solutions is available at booth # 901 at the International Trademark Association Annual Meeting exhibit floor, and at http://trademarks.thomsonreuters.com.
