Research analytics and evidence-based decision support data services provider Thomson Reuters, US, has announced the release of Institutional Profiles, a web-based resource that provides a comprehensive view of nearly 500 of the world's leading academic research institutions.
Through rigorous collection, vetting, aggregation, and normalisation of critical indicators such as faculty size, number of students, academic reputation, funding, and publication and citation data, Institutional Profiles presents a detailed portrait of each institution's activity. These indicators enable administrators and policy makers to reliably measure their institution's performance and, for the first time, make international comparisons against peers in an individual subject area or across multiple disciplines.
Backed by comparative analysis from Thomson Reuters, Institutional Profiles uses information collected from institutions and researchers in 47 countries to provide an insider's view into the abilities and expertise of each institution. Administrators can make connections between different data points, such as research investment versus academic output, to identify areas of success or those in need of improvement.
Institutional Profiles, a module within the InCites platform, is part of the research analytics suite of solutions provided by Thomson Reuters that supports strategic decision making and the evaluation and management of research. In addition to InCites, this suite of solutions includes consulting services, custom studies and reports, and the recently launched Research in View.
