Thomson Reuters introduces new Japanese Language Search functionality in Thomson Innovation -

The IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters showcased its upcoming release of Japanese Language Search functionality in Thomson Innovation, the company's premiere intellectual property research and analysis platform, at the Patent Information Fair in Tokyo, Japan. The new Japanese search capability, developed in close consultation with customers, will be publicly available in December and will enable researchers to search Japanese patent documents in Japanese and seamlessly link to global patent content for comprehensive, efficient research.

Japanese customers are expected to benefit from a streamlined workflow when searching in their native language, as well as accessing worldwide data in a single interface. The new offering will enable them to begin research locally and expand globally to other content sets, and collaborate with global colleagues within the platform.

The Japanese Language Search functionality provides users with access to Thomson Reuters proprietary patent database and one of the world's most trusted source of patent information - Derwent World Patents Index (DWPISM). Searchers will able to view DWPI information within their Japanese-language search results and on patents, to quickly understand an invention's novelty.

Additional functionality includes a search-assist tool to ensure precise, relevant Japanese-language search results; quick links to Japanese equivalents and family members from global collections; and the ability to identify English search terms of relevance by linking to the English equivalents of Japanese records. Users will also benefit from the existing on-demand translation of non-Japanese patent records into Japanese and access to the global patent content in DWPI.
