The University of New Haven (UNH) and Quinnipiac University (QU) are set to make history as the first institutions in Connecticut to adopt the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) using the EBSCO FOLIO hosting and implementation services offered by EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The transition process for both universities will be carried out in phases, with the aim of being fully live on FOLIO by the end of 2024.
Over 100 libraries and library systems worldwide have already embraced EBSCO FOLIO, representing a diverse range of academic research libraries, consortia, shared systems, universities, and community colleges.
By implementing EBSCO FOLIO, UNH will have the flexibility to select applications tailored to its unique system, avoiding the constraints of traditional Integrated Library Systems (ILS). This move will provide UNH with a simplified and customizable experience, enabling them to create the most suitable workflow solution for their institution without being restricted by unnecessary tools and features. UNH will continue to utilize EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) for student discovery and will expand its discovery offerings to include EBSCO's BiblioGraph. With BiblioGraph, UNH's users will be seamlessly directed from the open web to their catalog, as it transforms existing MARC records to BIBFRAME and enhances metadata with linked data for improved discovery.
Quinnipiac, with its three campuses housing undergraduate, graduate, law, and medical schools, will also undergo the transition to EBSCO FOLIO. Known for its openness, EBSCO FOLIO's adaptable architecture will facilitate easy integration and customization for each unique site. QU will leverage EDS for patron discovery and rely on GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO and EBSCONET for Electronic Resource Management (ERM).
