Two new titles will join the Nature Research journals portfolio in January 2018 - Nature Catalysis and Nature Electronics. They will open for submissions in the spring of 2017.
The two new journals will join the recently announced Nature Sustainability, and further demonstrate Nature Research's commitment to publishing applied research in support of societal needs and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, such as affordable and clean energy, industry innovation and infrastructure, responsible consumption and production. The journals also exemplify Springer Nature's determination to advance discovery by publishing robust and insightful research and to provide the best possible service to the whole of the research community by expanding the diversity of research published by Nature Research.
Nature Electronics will cover all areas of electronics, including commercial and industrial aspects of electronics research, and, at its core, be concerned with the development of new technologies and understanding the impact of these developments on society. It will publish both fundamental and applied research across all areas of electronics, from the study of novel phenomena and devices, to the design, construction and wider application of electronic circuits. It will be led by Chief Editor Dr Owain Vaughan, previously an editor at Nature Nanotechnology and strategy editor for Nature Research.
Catalysis research cuts across the whole of chemistry — organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and biochemistry — and also touches upon other branches of science, such as material science and nanotechnology. Nature Catalysis will cover the science and business of catalysis research, publishing both fundamental and applied work on homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, and biocatalysts. The Chief Editor of Nature Catalysis will be Dr Enda Bergin, who was previously Senior Editor at Nature Communications.
Nature Catalysis and Nature Electronics will be characterised by a fair and rigorous peer-review process, high standards of copy-editing and production, swift publication and editorial independence. In addition to primary research, the journals will publish reviews, commentaries, features, perspectives, and news & views pieces covering the many issues of interest to their respective communities.
The journals will be online-only and subscription-based. They will be included in Springer Nature's SharedIt content sharing initiative, which was recently expanded across the Springer Nature owned portfolio. SharedIt provides authors and readers with shareable links to view-only versions of peer-reviewed research papers and enables more than 200 media outlets and blogs to link to a free-to-read version of research articles.
