UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has announced that its chief executive Professor Sir Mark Walport has been appointed to the newly formed UK Artificial Intelligence (AI) Council.
He will join experts from industry, academia and data rights to help boost the growth of AI in the UK, promote its adoption and ethical use in businesses and organisations across the country.
AI Council members are already leading the way in the development of AI - from using it to personalise online shopping experience, to identifying and overcoming barriers of AI adoption in society, ensuring the protection of sensitive data. These experts will help put in place the right skills, ethics and data so the UK can make the most of AI technologies and tackle some of the key challenges they face.
