Unbound Medicine, a US-based provider of knowledge management solutions for the healthcare industry, has announced a new publishing relationship with the Johns Hopkins University. Under the initiative, Unbound Medicine will become the official electronic publisher of the web- and mobile-based versions of Johns Hopkins’ Antibiotic (ABX), Diabetes, and HIV POC-IT Guides.
Central to the new publishing relationship is the Unbound Platform’s ability to continually maintain, publish, and fulfill multi-platform digital products as well as produce files for print composition. Using Unbound’s web-based content management system, uPub, expert editors at Johns Hopkins were able to write, edit, and review, easily updating a single XML content repository containing the ABX, Diabetes, and HIV Guides in a customised workflow. Unbound then uses the platform to publish the latest version directly to the website and mobile devices including iOS (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad), Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone.
Working closely with Johns Hopkins, the Unbound product design and marketing teams defined a product launch based on seven distinct product packages using the Unbound Platform for product configuration, e-marketing, and e-commerce. Following purchase, individual and institutional customers can access the continually updated website or download the Guides to their choice of mobile device.
