Unbound Platform powers online and mobile editions of F.A. Davis' Taber's 21 Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary -

Healthcare knowledge management solutions provider Unbound Medicine, US, and health care publisher F.A. Davis Company have announced the release of the new Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary for Mobile and Web. Powered by the Unbound Platform, Taber's content is delivered from a single XML repository to students, educators, and practitioners in nursing, allied health, and medicine via the web and mobile devices.

From any location, end users will now be able to access the dictionary at tabers.com or download Taber's to any of the popular phone or handheld technologies available. This includes iPhoneT/iPod touch, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, or Palm.

Unbound's device-specific interfaces take full advantage of the navigational and graphic capabilities of each operating system to deliver the dictionary's unabridged contents - detailed definitions, full colour illustrations, audio pronunciations and extensive appendixes. By deriving individual applications from a single well-structured database, Unbound's technology offers the flexibility to provide an increasing number of digital solutions as new distribution channels proliferate.

Wireless handheld devices such as Blackberry, iPhone and PDA are being projected as an ideal platform for mobile learning and reference, particularly in medical education and practice. Earlier last month, the company announced that its platform now supports application download to Apple iPhone and iPod touch devices. Adding delivery of iPhone applications to existing support for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Palm OS devices is seen to further strengthen Unbound Medicine's position as a leading provider of point-of-care clinical information in the healthcare segment.
