Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that Università degli Studi dell'Insubria (the University of Insubria) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform to achieve greater efficiency through economies of scale, reduced management costs, and improved library workflows.
As with many other institutions, the university is keenly aware of the growing demand for and importance of electronic resources. Over the past 16 years, the library's acquisition budget devoted to electronic resources has increased by over 85 percent. At the same time, the available human resources have declined as the result of budgetary constraints.
With the transition to the Alma system, the library team will have an opportunity to revamp their workflows to achieve greater efficiency, thus freeing up staff to develop innovative new services for the library's users. Library managers will be able to take advantage of the Alma analytics and reporting features to make data-based decisions related to organisational changes and resource usage.
