Universities in Turkey select Serials Solutions Summon service -

Serials Solutions, a US-based provider of tools and services for libraries and a business unit of ProQuest LLC, has announced that three prominent universities in Turkey have chosen the Summon web-scale discovery service to make searching the full breadth of their collections and resources faster and easier for users. The three universities are Bogazici University, Izmir Institute of Technology and Süleyman Demirel University.

Serials Solutions Summon service allows researchers to search an entire library collection - including all print, electronic and microform serials - from one, familiar and easy-to-use search box. A user simply enters his or her search terms and the Summon service returns relevant results within seconds.

By simplifying the search process, researchers are able to spend more time focusing on how to incorporate the information they discover into their research papers and projects, and librarians can focus more of their attention on information literacy and other areas of library management instead of helping patrons find material.

Bogazici University boasts a student enrollment of more than 11,000 annually. The university's mission is to expand the scientific horizons of Turkey and to educate individuals who will continue to excel in the areas of contemporary science and technology. The university also aims to become a leading research and education institution of international standing.

The Izmir Institute of Technology is comprised of undergraduate programmes in science, engineering and architecture, and the Graduate School of Engineering and Sciences. All students are involved in advanced research within one of the above-mentioned programmes. Overall, the institute has an enrollment of 1,200 spread across nine undergraduate programmes, 24 master's programmes and six doctoral programmes.

Süleyman Demirel University is the fourth largest academic institution in Turkey with an enrollment of more than 39,000 students. The university supports a variety of award-winning degree programmes in agricultural research, medicine, engineering and business sciences.

The Summon service currently includes content from more than 6,800 providers and contains over 600 million records. The service is subscribed to by more than 200 libraries worldwide.
