Serials Solutions, a US-based provider of tools and services for libraries and a business unit of ProQuest LLC, has announced that the University of Cincinnati Libraries have selected Serials Solutions Summon web-scale discovery service to enhance the accessibility of its vast array of e-resources and library materials. With the Summon service, researchers at the University of Cincinnati (UC) will now experience improved speed and discoverability across the library's full breadth of subscribed databases, e-resources and physical materials.

From a single search box located prominently on the UC Libraries homepage, the Summon service provides quick and easy access to the library's resources on any topic.

Founded in 1819, the University of Cincinnati is Ohio's premier urban research university, and is ranked as one of America's top 25 public research universities. Its libraries feature 94,000 journal and periodic titles and content from more than 6,800 publishers, in addition to more than three million library catalogue records. The UC Libraries' more than 230 million indexed items serve more than 41,000 students on campus. Through the Summon service, users are able to search a single, unified index of the library's vast collections across all formats in one instant search.

The Summon service currently includes content from more than 6,800 providers and contains more than 600 million records. The number of libraries subscribing to the Summon service worldwide currently exceeds 235 libraries, which are seeing a significant increase in the use of their library's collections. Since it is offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS), Serials Solutions continues to enhance and improve the features and functionality of the Summon service in real-time to ensure users receive relevant results with unprecedented speed.
