University of Genoa selects Ex Libris Primo -

Library automation services provider Ex Libris® Group has announced that the University of Genoa in Italy has selected the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. The university library chose Primo from a number of commercial alternatives to provide users with a single point of access to all library resources, regardless of resource type or location.

The sophisticated search and ranking technology of Primo, its intuitive browsing options, and its support for serendipitous discovery enable users to easily find and seamlessly access the resources they need. Content neutral and flexible, Primo empowers libraries to tailor the discovery experience to the needs and expectations of their own user community.

The University of Genoa offers 127 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs at its four educational centres (Genoa, Imperia, Savona, and La Spezia). An enrolment of over 32,600 students is served by 1,300 instructors, 1,400 administrative staff members, and approximately 80 librarians. The five libraries of the university library system deliver services in 60 locations and hold over 1,200,000 items. More than 45,000 electronic resources are available and, in 2013, the libraries processed 69,000 loans and more than 9,000 interlibrary loans and document delivery requests.
