The University of Hertfordshire has announced its participation in the national open access deal facilitated by Jisc Collections and Frontiers, a leading open-access publisher. This collaboration offers researchers in the UK a simplified and streamlined pathway to open-access publishing, as the country accounts for 7% of global research output.
With a commitment to expanding the dissemination of research findings, the University of Hertfordshire actively supports its researchers in making their work more widely accessible. As part of the agreement, eligible authors affiliated with the university can publish their research in any Frontiers journal and receive a 10% discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs).
This publishing agreement reinforces the university's dedication to promoting open access and encourages its researchers to contribute to the growing volume of openly available research. While reducing costs for individual researchers, the agreement also benefits the broader research community and the general public by enabling easier access to cutting-edge scientific discoveries.
Researchers at the University of Hertfordshire are encouraged to seek funding from the university prior to submitting their manuscripts to Frontiers. The university's Institutional Open Access Fund provides financial support, and researchers are advised to consult the eligibility criteria and application form available on the University of Hertfordshire's Institutional Open Access Fund page. Once funding is confirmed, researchers can submit their articles to Frontiers under this agreement. During the submission process, authors should select the University of Hertfordshire as their affiliated institution in the payment information section, indicating their membership in Frontiers' institutional program. The university's library will verify eligibility, and upon acceptance, the Article Processing Charges will be covered by the University of Hertfordshire.
By joining the national open access deal with Frontiers, the University of Hertfordshire is taking proactive steps to foster a culture of open and accessible research, supporting the advancement of knowledge and collaboration within the academic community.
