Serials Solutions, a business unit of the US-based ProQuest LLC, has announced that The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Library has selected the Summon service to provide improved discovery of the library’s vast collections – including more than 2.6 million volumes and 60,000 serial titles which are mostly in electronic format.
As a member of the Consortium of Academic Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI), the University of Illinois Chicago also has access to search across the catalogues of 76 Illinois libraries via the I-Share union catalogue. Serials Solutions is committed to helping UIC make the I-Share catalogue content searchable within the Summon service.
The University of Illinois Chicago becomes the latest member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) to select the Summon service, which is now the chosen discovery service for more than 30 percent of ARL academic libraries. The UIC Library supports the teaching, research and service mission of the University. While its primary mission is to serve the university community, the library is open to all users. Readers in the library buildings have access to all print and electronic resources owned or licensed by UIC, which makes discovering these materials in a comprehensive, user-friendly way a priority.
