The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) - Universitat de les Illes Balears - has entered into an institutional partnership with open-access publisher Frontiers to increase the availability of its research outputs. The agreement provides eligible UIB researchers with full coverage of article publishing charges, creating a more direct route to sharing findings openly with the global research community and the public.
The partnership forms part of the wider CSUC open access publishing framework agreement, which aims to reduce costs and ensure equitable access to scientific knowledge. UIB researchers who wish to participate must be corresponding authors affiliated with the institution, use their UIB email address, and maintain an ORCID profile registered in the SIRA system.
UIB has emphasized that open access supports a model of open science designed to generate higher-quality, more impactful knowledge and ensure its circulation within society. By reducing barriers to publishing, the arrangement is expected to increase the volume of UIB research that becomes freely available.
