Canadian Science Publishing has introduced a new scope for the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology (CJPP). Developed in collaboration with the Editorial Board and members of the scientific community, the updated focus reflects the evolving interests and priorities of today’s researchers.
The revised scope reflects collaboration with the journal’s Editorial Board and researchers to refine its focus while maintaining its core aim of advancing human health. The journal continues to publish work across physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, and toxicology.
The updated framework highlights key areas of emphasis, including cardiovascular research, cell biology, clinical trials and case reports, metabolism, neuroscience, organ systems, and translational pharmacology. Coverage spans both basic and clinical research, encompassing clinical studies in physiology and pharmacology as well as scholarship related to education pedagogy.
As part of Canadian Science Publishing’s broader commitment to diversity and representative research, the scope places increased attention on studies involving women’s health and underrepresented populations. A three-part special issue on women’s heart health, published in 2024, reflects the type of work prioritized under the updated direction.
The journal remains focused on supporting health equity and publishing research that can guide policy, clinical practice, and public health strategies aimed at reducing disparities across communities.
