USC Press names Richard Brown as Director -

University of South Carolina Press has named Richard Brown as its new director. Brown joins Carolina from Georgetown University where he has served as Press Director since 2001.

At USC Press, he will be responsible for the editorial, fiscal and marketing strategies of USC Press, South Carolina's oldest and largest book publisher, specialising in scholarly humanities and regional trade publications.

Brown has 30 years' experience and has been involved in all aspects of publishing.

He served on the board of the Association of American University Presses for five years, including one year as president. He was a member of the Project MUSE advisory council, and currently serves on the executive council of the Association of American Publishers/Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division. For the past five years, he has served as treasurer and board member of the Theological Book Network, a non-profit organisation that facilitates the donation of scholarly books to libraries in the developing world.
