The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) are organizing a one-day Publishing Community Meeting during W3C's largest annual event, TPAC (Technical Plenary / Advisory Committee week).
The Publishing Community Meeting at W3C TPAC (Lisbon, Portugal) will be held on September 22 from 08:30 until 15:00. The agenda will include discussion about publications on the Web, print on demand and other broader use cases for Open Web Platform technologies in publishing, updates and future evolution of EPUB 3 and related specifications such as the EPUB for Education profile, and recent developments in open source building blocks for EPUB and Web-based publishing. Discussion among all participants will be encouraged. A detailed agenda and speakers will be announced later this month.
All IDPF and W3C members are invited to participate; the registration page is now available on the W3C site. (Register with your email address or request a free W3C public account if you do not already have one.) IDPF members participating in the Publishing Community Meeting may also register to attend other meetings during W3C TPAC, including the W3C Technical Plenary day (Wed. Sep 21) and the W3C Digital Publishing Interest Group meeting (Sep 19 & 20) and may request to observe other meetings as listed on the registration form. There is a daily fee of 90 EUR for each day you register to attend if you register prior to 2 September; that fee increases on 3 September.
