Serials Solutions, a US-based provider of tools and services for libraries and a business unit of ProQuest LLC, has announced that West Virginia University (WVU) Libraries have selected its Summon web-scale discovery service to improve users' ability to find information. The Summon service will provide West Virginia's researchers with a modern interface and allow them to search the entire collection from a single search box quickly and easily.
The West Virginia University Libraries include five facilities - the Downtown Campus Library Complex, Evansdale Library, Health Sciences Library, Law Library and Libraries Depository - containing a vast amount of diverse resources.
Implementation of the Summon service is fast and easy and does not require libraries to make significant investments in hardware since it is a hosted solution. This also means that Serials Solutions maintains the service, freeing up librarians for other activities, such as managing collections or working on special projects.
