Wiley adds four open access journals to Advanced Portfolio -

Wiley has launched four new research journals—Advanced City, Advanced Food, Advanced Microbiome, and Advanced Psychology—with submissions now open for all four titles. The launches expand the publisher’s Advanced Portfolio to 36 journals, following the introduction of 10 new titles in 2026.

The Advanced Portfolio includes multidisciplinary journals covering life, health, physical, and social sciences. Its titles include Advanced Science and Advanced Materials, which focus on research across multiple scientific disciplines and materials science, respectively.

The four new open access journals cover research areas related to urban systems, food science, microbiome science, and psychology.

Advanced City publishes research examining cities as integrated, engineered, and data-enabled systems. Its scope includes infrastructure, mobility, energy, digital systems, urban governance, and resilience. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief Jiaqi Li, whose research background includes heterogeneous catalysis, functional materials, and sustainable chemical processes. Li holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern University.

Advanced Food covers interdisciplinary research in food science, nutrition, biotechnology, engineering, and sustainability. Its scope includes food technologies, nutrition, public health, and resilient food systems. The journal’s editor-in-chief, Lionel Zhu, holds a Ph.D. in biosystems and food engineering from University College Dublin. His expertise spans food science, biomanufacturing, and emerging food technologies, alongside editorial experience with Wiley’s food science journals.

Advanced Microbiome publishes research on microbiomes across different hosts and environments, covering fundamental mechanisms and practical applications related to human, animal, and environmental health. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief Paulina Strzyz, who earned her Ph.D. from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany. Before joining Wiley, Strzyz worked on the editorial teams of Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology and Cell Press publications.

Advanced Psychology covers research across psychological science, including cognition, development, clinical psychology, social psychology, and organizational psychology. Its editor-in-chief, Seth Levine, earned his Ph.D. in cognitive and brain sciences from the University of Trento in Italy. His research has combined psychophysics, machine learning, and functional neuroimaging to investigate perceptual decision-making. He also conducted postdoctoral research on mental representations of affect at several German institutions.

According to Allyn Molina, group vice president of publishing development at Wiley, the publisher had announced plans in February 2026 to add eight journals to the Advanced Portfolio by the end of the year. The launch of these four additional titles brings the total number of new journals introduced during the year to 10, exceeding the original target.

Further information about the journal collection is available through the Advanced Portfolio on Wiley Online Library.
