Wiley and CAUL sign three-year read and publish agreement for Australia and New Zealand -

Wiley and the Council of Australasian University Librarians (CAUL) have announced a new three-year open access agreement providing publishing opportunities for researchers at more than 50 universities and research organizations across Australia and New Zealand from 2026 through 2028.

The agreement enables researchers at participating CAUL institutions to access peer-reviewed scholarly content and publish open access in Wiley journals. This includes unlimited publishing in hybrid journals and expanded opportunities to publish in Wiley’s 600+ fully open access journals.

Over the past five years, the partnership between Wiley and CAUL has increased open access publishing among CAUL researchers in Wiley journals from 20% to more than 80%. The next phase of the agreement expands publishing options and introduces AI-powered services to support Australasian research.

Wiley publishes journals in partnership with societies across Australia and New Zealand and maintains society partnerships in the region, including with Royal Society Te Apārangi in New Zealand.

The agreement includes support services such as author workshops, librarian training, and monthly reporting to assist institutions in managing open access publishing. The arrangement is intended to reduce barriers to publication and access and to support the dissemination of research from Australia and New Zealand.
