Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, and the International Communication Association have announced the launch of a new International Encyclopedia of Communication. The encyclopaedia is a 12-volume work containing over 1,300 newly-commissioned entries covering the scholarship, evidence, and methodology of communication research.
Edited by Wolfgang Donsbach of the Dresden University of Technology, the encyclopaedia is claimed to be the first major reference work to cover the entirety of this discipline. It spans the breadth of communication studies, addressing theories, media and communication phenomena, research methods, problems, concepts, and geographical areas. Reader-friendly A-Z entries range from extended explorations of major topics to short descriptions of key concepts. Sophisticated cross-referencing and search facilities, lexicon by subject area, and a comprehensive index are also featured.
In addition to the print set, this reference is also available online via Blackwell Reference Online, an online library giving instant access to the most authoritative and up-to-date scholarship across the humanities and social sciences. The online version, available at www.blackwellreference.com/public/ICA, offers powerful searching and browsing capabilities and extensive cross-referencing.
