Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc, US, and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) have launched 'Wachter's World,' a new blog written by Dr. Robert M. Wachter, which addresses current issues in hospital care and inpatient medicine. 'Wachter's World' offers a casual setting in which hospitalists and other healthcare professionals can openly discuss hot topics, such as nurse-to-patient ratios, house-staff work hours and evidence-based medicine, as the field continues to gain momentum.
Recent posts on 'Wachter's World' include 'Can Computerized Decision Support Get Docs to Toe the Line on Quality?,' 'Rating Doctors Like Restaurants,' and 'Are Hospitalists Killing Primary Care?.' In its first month, it already has 10,000 unique visitors, and is averaging more than 500 visits a day, making it one of the most popular healthcare blogs on the web.
Wiley-Blackwell also publishes, on behalf of the Society of Hospital Medicine, The Hospitalist and the Journal of Hospital Medicine. The Hospitalist provides the latest in clinical and industry news for hospitalists throughout the US. A monthly publication, each issue features news, trends, issues, and people instrumental in shaping hospital medicine. The Journal of Hospital Medicine offers exclusive coverage on research and evidence-based reviews in the hospital medicine sector.
