Wiley celebrates its 210th anniversary with bell ringing at New York Stock Exchange -

Publisher John Wiley and Sons Inc. has announced that its President and CEO, Brian A. Napack, and Director and member of the seventh generation of the Wiley family, Jesse C. Wiley, will ring the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on December 20, 2017 in celebration of the company's 210th anniversary. Also present to mark the occasion will be Deborah Wiley, a member of the sixth generation; Matthew Kissner, Chairman of the Board; and members of senior management.

From its origins as a small Manhattan printing shop in 1807 to its present day worldwide reach, Wiley's emphasis on the highest quality publishing and its commitment to customers have remained consistent. In the nineteenth century, the company was the publisher of such notable literary figures as James Fenimore Cooper, Washington Irving, Herman Melville, and Edgar Allan Poe, as well as legal, religious, and other non-fiction titles. Wiley later became a leader in scientific, technical, medical and scholarly subject areas, publishing over 450 Nobel laureates. In the 20th century, the company expanded further to become a leader in higher education and professional learning. Over these 210 years, Wiley has been at the forefront of the industrial age, the technology age, and the present emergence of the knowledge-based economy.
