Wiley has announced the addition of more than 17,500 spectra to its Wiley Registry of Mass Spectral Data, a key resource available through KnowItAll subscriptions. This update brings the total number of spectra in the database to over 913,000.
The Wiley Registry is recognized as one of the most extensive and high-quality mass spectral libraries globally and is widely adopted as a standard reference in Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. It supports research and application across multiple sectors, including environmental science, forensics, toxicology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and metabolomics.
The latest update spans numerous compound classes. It includes expanded coverage of newly identified and emerging drugs of abuse, insect pheromones, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Additions also encompass fatty acids and their methyl esters, hydrocarbons, terpenes, alcohols, phenols, alkaloids, and change into sulfur, halogenated, organophosphorus, and carbonyl compounds.
Data sources for this update include contributions from Cayman Chemical, research laboratories, literature abstraction from Wiley journals, and world patents. These diverse inputs enhance the breadth and reliability of the database.
The update model enables KnowItAll subscribers to access new data as it becomes available, removing the need to wait for major release cycles. Compared to the Wiley Registry 2023 edition, current subscribers now have access to over 40,000 additional spectra.
Wiley’s suite of spectral database offerings spans a wide array of analytical techniques, including infrared (IR), mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Raman, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. These databases are used extensively for spectral identification, classification, and verification.
Access to the latest spectra updates is exclusive to holders of the Wiley Registry, KnowItAll GC-MS Library, KnowItAll GC-MS Identification Pro, or KnowItAll MS Identification Pro subscriptions.
