Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, has announced a programme with Gatlin Educational Services, Inc. (GES), a provider of online workforce development programmes to colleges and universities. Under the agreement, GES will exclusively deliver a comprehensive Emergency Management Training programme from the Wiley Pathways imprint, beginning spring 2008. The programme will be offered in an interactive online format to the public through GES' partner colleges and universities.
The Emergency Management Training programme will include content from five Wiley Pathways titles - Introduction to Emergency Management; Emergency Planning; Disaster Response and Recovery; Technology in Emergency Management; and Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness. The five titles are seen to form a comprehensive programme, emphasising the core information essential for an understanding of the field.
The course content from Wiley Pathways focuses on job-related skills and practical applications of concepts using concise professional language and a focus on fundamentals. The texts' consistent pedagogy and modularised content give instructors the option to mix and match course material from across the suite of titles. GES online delivery with open-enrollment and self-paced lessons provides flexibility to students.
GES courses are facilitated by an industry expert and accompanied by the corresponding Wiley Pathways titles. All materials are included in the price of tuition, and can be used later by the student as a professional reference.
