Wiley launches Advanced Brain journal to expand neuroscience research across disciplines -

Wiley has announced the launch of Advanced Brain, an open access, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to publishing research across neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, and psychology. The journal, part of Wiley’s Advanced Portfolio of collaborative titles, is now open for submissions.

The publication aims to advance both fundamental and applied understanding of the human brain by providing a platform for dialogue across life, medical, and behavioral sciences. It is the fourth new journal introduced in 2026, following Advanced Chemical Engineering, Advanced Oncology, and Advanced Computing, with additional launches planned later in the year.

Antonia Eisenkoeck, appointed editor‑in‑chief, brings extensive experience from previous editorial roles at The Lancet Neurology and Nature Portfolio. She emphasized that the journal seeks to break down disciplinary silos, positioning discoveries in basic neuroscience alongside clinical trials, population studies, and conceptual frameworks to accelerate knowledge and influence clinical practice and policy.

Allyn Molina, group vice president of publishing development at Wiley, noted that Advanced Brain reflects the vision of the Advanced Portfolio, which was built on the idea that transformative science occurs at the intersection of disciplines. The journal is intended to provide researchers with the same trusted, high‑impact publishing experience that has characterized the portfolio’s established titles.

The scope of Advanced Brain spans the brain‑mind continuum, covering molecular and cellular mechanisms, cognitive processes, neuroimaging, computational approaches, and translational and clinical applications. Specific areas include neurodegenerative diseases, stroke and brain injury, pain and sensory disorders, mental health and psychiatric conditions, and neuroinflammation.

An editorial advisory board composed of leading academics from institutions such as the University of Oxford, Harvard University, Fudan University, the University of Hong Kong, and the University of Oslo will guide the journal.

The Advanced Portfolio, anchored by Advanced Science and Advanced Materials, has expanded from its origins in materials science into a multidisciplinary collection spanning physical, life, health, and social sciences. Recent additions include titles in emerging areas at the intersection of artificial intelligence and science, such as Advanced Intelligent Discovery and Advanced Robotics Research.
