Publisher John Wiley & Sons has signed on as a sponsor, co-chair and organiser of the Hello World pre-conference session for the APPCON 2010 mobile app development event in Las Vegas. John Wiley is the publisher of the Wrox line of books, CDs and other educational materials for programmers.
Designed to be a part training, part hands-on coding exercise, the Hello World introductory session is set for August 24 as a prequel to the three-day APPCON 2010 event. The session is projected to provide an opportunity for APPCON attendees to get up to speed quickly on the platform of their choice before the general, technical sessions of the conference begin.
As part of APPCON’s partnership with Wrox, the publisher will develop the content which will be delivered by the imprint’s authors and experts. Attendees are expected to benefit from a hands-on version of Wrox’s ‘Programmer to Programmer’ approach to professional development. Related titles in the Wrox series will be provided to participants during registration.
Hello World is designed to meet the needs of both experienced developers new to mobile app coding and developers experienced on one app platform looking to expand their repertoire into another platform. The session begins with a one-hour overview of the mobile app market and brief introductions to each of the major platforms. Breakout sessions follow, focusing on app development for specific platforms in detail, including installation of development tools on each participant’s laptop.
In addition to the Hello World event, APPCON features more than 40 other education sessions that cover a wide range of mobile app technologies in a practical and technical fashion. The developer conference and expo runs August 24-26 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The event is dedicated exclusively to mobile apps across all major platforms and carriers. It seeks to provide an opportunity for developers to dive deep into current technologies and platforms to meet the tactical mobile needs of businesses and brands.
