Winners of first-annual TCI-Scopus-TRF Journal Awards announced -

STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, in collaboration with the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre, serving as the database of academic papers published in Thai journals, and the Thailand Research Fund, a government organisation in support of national research, announced the winners of the first-annual TCI-Scopus-TRF Journal Awards. The awards were presented during a ceremony at the Bangkok Windsor Suite Hotel, Thailand.

The TCI and TRF partnered with Elsevier to introduce the first official Thai Journal awards. The journals are nominated for awards based on their quality and editorial policy. Their quality is assessed through their performance, using the SNIP metric and looking at the journal's citations received over time. The editorial policy of a journal also plays a central role to the evaluation process as the journals need to be managed to international standards. The journal should be published timely, at a set frequency, have a well managed editorial board and a diverse pool of authors contributing to the publication. Even the presentation of the journal through its website will contribute to the evaluation of the journals presentation.

This year's inaugural awards include the 'International Journal Award', selected from the 10 Thai journals accessed globally through Scopus, Elsevier's abstract and citation database, and two 'National Journal Awards' selected from the 72 national Thai research journals.
