WK Health pharmacy experts present market analytics at PMSA meet -

Medical information provider Wolters Kluwer Health (WK Health), US, has announced that three of its pharmacy analytics experts presented new market analytics at the ongoing 2008 Pharmaceutical Management Science Association (PMSA) conference. The experts detailed findings from recent internal studies and revealed new methodologies and data culled using WK Health analytics products.

Karin Hayes, Group Director, Product Management, in WK Health's brand analytics practice, presented 'Modeling the Competitive Relationship of OTC and Rx Products,' a discussion on the dynamics of the current Rx/OTC/CPG markets. Methodologies for combining Rx and OTC data assets as well as a case study were covered.

Laura Jenkins Jirele and Jeff Kanis, both senior analytics experts with WK Health's healthcare analytics group, looked at the area of generic erosion in a presentation entitled, 'The Sky is Falling: Factors Contributing to Generic Erosion.' Their discussion examined 27 generic launches from 2005 to 2007 to assess the relative influence of a range of factors on generic erosion within various payment plans including Medicare Part D, HMOs, PPOs and cash. The presentation was made together with Daniel J. Feldman, Ph.D., an analytical consultant and practicing neuropsychologist in New York City.

The tutorial was expected to help attendees gather an understanding of what to look for in an analogue generic launch to use in their own forecasting processes.
