Wolters Kluwer, Health has expanded the Sentri7® suite of clinical surveillance tools to include Sentri7 Sepsis Monitor. Sentri7 Sepsis Monitor (formerly known as POC Advisor) leverages clinical natural language processing (cNLP) and advanced algorithms to surveil hospital patients 24/7 to identify early signs of sepsis.
The solution also monitors patient care and notifies clinical teams of deviations from the SEP-1 protocol, eliminating unwarranted variations in care and improving quality and financial performance. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA) observed a sensitivity of 95% and specificity of 82% for detecting sepsis compared to the gold-standard physician chart review.
Using Wolters Kluwer’s Sentri7 Sepsis Monitor, Conway Regional Medical Center, a 150-bed hospital serving North Central Arkansas, improved its SEP-1 bundle compliance by more than 20% in just over four months. This improvement placed them in the top decile of institutions nationwide based on internal case tracking. During the same period, the hospital also achieved cumulative savings of nearly $400,000 as a result of sepsis care improvements and other initiatives to reduce patients’ length of stay.
Hospitals that have implemented Sepsis Monitor have access to Wolters Kluwer's evidence-based curated content, customized workflows, and embedded analytics. Sepsis Monitor uses the same platform technology but also leverages clinically maintained sepsis algorithms and tailored workflows to drive more sophisticated patient identification and effectively manage patient care throughout their stay and staff transition.Click here to read the original press release.
