Healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer has announced that four health systems utilising ProVation® Order Sets, powered by UpToDate® Decision Support, have achieved Stage 7 of the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM) and EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model (A-EMRAM). Through these designations, MetroHealth System, Winona Health, Sparrow Health System and Mercy Health, have stepped out as industry leaders in the national health IT movement.
EMRAM was launched in 2005 as a methodology for tracking progress of electronic medical record (EMR) adoption and use. Hospitals and health systems are scored in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database according to eight stages of implementation, with Stage 7 being the pinnacle goal where paper charts are no longer used for care delivery. To date, only 3 percent of US hospitals, approximately 200, have achieved this level. A-EMRAM was developed in 2011 as a methodology to complement EMRAM for ambulatory clinics owned by hospitals.
The largest health system in Ohio, Mercy Health, received the Stage 7 award for all ambulatory clinics and four hospitals in October 2014. MetroHealth System, the largest integrated delivery networks in Northeast Ohio, and Michigan-based Sparrow Health System, a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, also received the Stage 7 award for various hospitals and ambulatory clinics in 2014. A rural, independent community health system in Minnesota, Winona Health was awarded Stage 7 for ambulatory services earlier this year.
All of these health systems are leveraging ProVation Order Sets as their clinical content management system of choice to drive the required use of CPOE and clinical decision support needed to achieve the highest levels of EMRAM. A central component of a healthcare organisation's care quality and core measures improvement strategy, the solution improves patient outcomes and quality of care by providing evidence-based order set templates co-developed with the editors of UpToDate. Customers achieve ROI through lower costs of care and the efficiencies of an intelligent clinical content management system. ProVation Order Sets also contains over 11,000 unbreakable links to UpToDate, the resource of choice for more than 1 million users worldwide.
During the HIMSS Annual Conference, April 12-16, in Chicago, clinical and operational leaders from MetroHealth System and Winona Health will be featured as part of the Wolters Kluwer schedule of roundtable opportunities at booth #8103 to discuss their experiences.
A KLAS Category leader in 2014, ProVation Order Sets continues to innovatively advance its position in the market through the recent launch of Quality Alignment Manager, a comprehensive resource that assists healthcare organisations with compliance and adherence to evolving regulatory guidelines for performance. This enhancement streamlines compliance with national quality initiatives by flagging order sets that are not aligned with quality measures and triggering alerts regarding needed edits or additions.
